Euskara classes are back — refreshed, re-energized, and easier to keep up with!
After returning from Jaialdi and a two-year sabbatical, Sonia Castañon is excited to bring a new approach to learning Euskara — one that’s approachable, fun, and meaningful. Whether you’re hoping to connect more deeply with your Basque roots, communicate with family and friends, or just enjoy the social vibe, these classes are for you.
Class Structure:
• When? Twice a month — on the 5th and 20th, from 6–8 PM
• Where? Sonia’s home: 1218 N Garnette St
• Format? Mostly in-person (old school style!), with a Zoom option available in winter or for those with special circumstances
• Cost? We’re asking for a minimum donation of $5 per class — that covers the essentials like handouts, snacks, and yes, ardotxoa to keep things flowing (conversation, of course). If you’re feeling flush or just really love pintxos, feel free to toss in a bit more. Think of it as investing in your Basque brilliance 😉
You can donate in cash at the door or via Venmo (super easy). And if you’re feeling extra generous and want to support the Euskara program in a bigger way, you can Venmo the Club directly — just let us know and we’ll send the info your way. Kezkarik gabe, No pressure!
What to Expect:
Classes will run continuously from September through May — no strict semesters or breaks. Think of it as an open-door setup:
• Come regularly if you’re serious about learning
• Drop in when you can for the social side of things
Each session will focus on conversational Euskara with themes like gastronomy, travel, music, sports — whatever sparks interest in the group. The goal is to keep it engaging, useful, and fun!
Even if language learning isn’t totally your thing, you’re warmly invited to stop by and enjoy the Euskal giroa — the Basque vibe — for a couple of hours.
We’ve picked the 5th and 20th of each month to give everyone a shot at making it — the weekday will shift, but the time will always be 6–8 PM.
Let us know if you’d like to join! Share your interest, goals, or just drop by and check it out.
